How to
How to use job photos in Google Business Profile posts
A plain how-to for contractors who already have a Business Profile on Google: pick the right photos, write the post, and keep it within Google's rules.
FIELDFOLIO is not part of Google. Everything we say about Google here comes from Google's own help pages, linked at the bottom and checked on Oct 14, 2026. Google can change these rules, so check the links if something looks different.
What a post is
- Posts are short updates on your Business Profile. They can have text, photos or video, and show on Search and Maps.
- There are three kinds: Update, Offer and Event. A finished job fits an Update best.
- An Update can have a description, a photo, a video and a button with a link, such as Learn more.
- Posts older than 6 months are archived unless the post has a date range.
- Your profile has to be verified. Photos and posts on an unverified profile stay Pending and do not show.
Pick the photos
- Use photos from a real job you did. Google asks that photos represent reality: in focus, well lit, with no heavy filters or big edits.
- A before and an after from the same angle tell the story fastest. Add one close-up of the detail that took skill.
- Leave out house numbers, license plates, faces and anything personal in the shot.
- Ask the customer before you post photos of their property.
Size and format
- JPG or PNG, between 10 KB and 5 MB.
- Google recommends 720 by 720 pixels. The minimum is 250 by 250.
- Video: up to 30 seconds, up to 75 MB, 720p or higher.
Write the post
- Say what the job was and the town or area, in a sentence or two.
- Say what you did and what the customer gets now. Skip hype words.
- Add a Learn more button that goes to your own website.
- Do not put a phone number in the text. Google may reject posts with contact info it cannot verify. Use the Call now button instead, which uses your verified number.
- Read it once for spelling. Google asks for posts without misspellings or extra characters.
After you post
- Google reviews each post. Live means it shows on Search and Maps. Pending means it is still processing or the profile is not verified. Not approved means it broke a content rule.
- New photos can take 24 to 48 hours to show.
- You can edit or delete a post at any time from Posts on your profile.
